Message I have a 1990 Twin Turbo. I got in it one day and it had a terribly rough idle and the oil pressure was going from 0-90psi erratically. So after searching TT.net I decided to replace the oil pressure sending unit. Changed the oil (Mobile 1 10W-30) and filter and the sending unit. Still had the same rough idle after the engine got up to temp but the oil settled in at 60psi and doesn’t move too much from that mark. Thinking perhaps the extra oil through the heads may have fouled a plug I dropped new plugs in. Same situation, the engine warms up maybe 10 minutes then rough idle and take off, but seems to run fairly smooth at speed (40-50mph) but feels a bit hesitant when I push the pedal. But this time when I parked it there was definitely oily smoke coming from the backside of the engine, not a ton but enough. I thought initially it could be a bad coil pack, but with the smoke I no longer think it’s a plug issue. I don’t have oil pouring out the engine, no leaks that I can find. I haven’t ruled out the Turbos but the boost seems to be steady right around 11-12, but I’m sure that doesn’t mean they can’t be leaking oil past a seal. Anyone out there who may have encountered the same issues? Any ideas and thoughts would be much appreciated or if there is another post similar to this please direct me there, I searched but most the problems were cleared up with the sending unit.
